Our Mission

To accelerate sustainable community transformation by enabling children in Fundo & the Ma’di Okollo District in Uganda to have access to full education opportunities.

What we are doing

The 8 key areas of work for achieving our mission:

The Fundo Foundation Story

The Fundo Foundation was born in February 2023. A group from the UK visited Fundo School in a remote location in North Western Uganda, on the banks of the River Nile . We took with us as much equipment as we could, including a bag of rugby balls. After two hours of rugby games with the children in the heat of the midday sun, we were parched! We took bottles of water out of our bags to rehydrate, but it quickly became apparent that the children had nothing to drink themselves. In the dry season the water tank is empty and there was no other water available, and we were unable to share what we had since there were just ten of us and hundreds of children. This experience had such an impact that we couldn't go away and do nothing about it. On top of this, we were discovering that a lack of water was only one of many difficulties facing the children at the school and the local community. So the Fundo Foundation was born.

The first priority was to provide a sustainable, year-round water supply for the school and community. But we also have much bigger and longer term goals for the benefit of every child in Fundo and for the whole community. Please explore our website to find out more and we'd love you to be a part of this work in any way you can. Thank you.

Fundo Primary School Bell

Where is Fundo Primary School?

Fundo and the Ma'di Okollo District is located in a remote part of North Western Uganda on the banks of the White Nile. The region borders South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It's an amazing place! From the town of Arua, it takes approximately 2 hours to get there on dusty roads and tracks between different villages. Click here for maps and more details about the location of Fundo Primary School.

Current projects

Our fundraising is currently focused around two key areas: raising educational standards at Fundo Primary School and sponsoring children who pass P7 to go to secondary school. We have good contacts with partners in Uganda involved with the Fundo Foundation, including individuals who live in Fundo Village. This means we can ensure our work is responding to real needs on the ground within the school and community and is making a real and tangible difference to people's lives. Click here here to find out more about our current projects.

Development projects

We have a number of longer-term projects are also working on when time and resources allow. Click here to find out more.

UK School Partnerships

We are launching a scheme for schools in the UK to partner with Fundo Primary School. We feel this exciting opportunity will benefit the children at Fundo School as well as creating Geography, SMSC and PSHEE links for children at UK schools as they discover more about school life in a very different context to their own. If you are interested, please find all the information about this scheme in our invitation letter here.
